No matter what you call them, Dad, Papa, Daddy, Gramps . . . . for most of us, having a dad, being a dad, having a grandpa, step dad, or Pops in our lives is a blessing! Parenting is one of the most difficult jobs we’re ever going to do. We want to bring our children up to be caring people who leave goodness in this world. But how do we accomplish that? Is there some secret that would guarantee our children turn out to be loving, good people?Well, no there’s no secret, but there are ways that we can instill good values and consciousness into our kids. One of the best ways is to practice empathy.
Empathy is defined as ‘the ability to understand and share the feelings of another’.
Relax? That’s pretty much a concept that went out the window the moment you had kids, right?
What with the kids to look after, laundry to do, books, toys, Lego to pick up, spills to mop, errands to run, groceries to buy, lunches, suppers, breakfasts, and an endless number of snacks to make ...oh, did we mention the bathrooms? And don’t forget work, carpooling, more laundry and it’s your turn to bring the snacks to this week’s play date....
